Martha’s Vineyard landscape artist Renee Balter has been painting island vistas since the mid 1970’s. Her work reflects a deep connection and abiding love for the Vineyard that began in 1954 when she traveled to the island for the first time.
She and her husband Bruce have lived on the island since 1987. Drawn to the Victorian architecture of Oak Bluffs and the nostalgia of another era, Renee’s acrylic paintings have captured the uniqueness and haunting qualities of this charming Vineyard town.
Currently, her work is being shown during June and September at the newly named Galaxy Gallery at 99 Dukes County Avenue in the popular Oak Bluffs Arts District. Her latest work, featuring original monoprints and illuminated mono-print lanterns will be featured at a special Galaxy Gallery Exhibit July 15 – 28. SEE “EVENTS” for details.
The gallery is seasonal, opening on May 29 until October 10.
Original work, giclee’ prints, illuminated mono-print lanterns, and a selection of greeting cards are available at Renee’s studio/gallery/home located at 4 Gorham Avenue in Oak Bluffs.
